A Bride's feedback for Nomadic Fashion

"Nomadic Fashions completed my wedding, and were instrumental in achieving my “Vintage” theme. I worked with Sarah to design a line that would fit both the overall theme and personality of my large bridal party. I wanted my bridesmaids to be cohesive without being identical, and have a current style while maintaining the classic ideals of a vintage inspired time. We sat down with a glass of wine, and Sarah came up with an amazing concept, I entrusted her with all 7 of my girl’s jewelry and was so extremely pleased with the end result. Each necklace was designed with each girl’s personality in mind, and each bead, pearl and strand was specifically handpicked for each bracelet and necklace. I couldn’t have asked to work with a more wonderfully talented lady, and would refer her to any friend who is undergoing the sometimes-daunting task of planning a wedding. If you want custom pieces, for any occasion, Nomadic Fashions is your dream designer. I believe quality is in the details, and Sarah goes a step above that, and pours her loving heart and soul into her piece."  Brittany, San Diego, CA

"The Fluff of Clouds"

Today's forecast calls for beautiful! I worked on this necklace for over a month. My parents accompanied me on a special trip to a local bead warehouse when I purchased the beads for this necklace. My dad has been the color blue's number #1 fan, and I've become a fan as well.

Buy this necklace here.

This dreamy cluster of iridescent whites and blues reminds me of a peaceful afternoon looking up at the clouds or sitting by the water watching the waves roll in and out.

Her and I both share this as our favorite place on earth

A definite statement piece, you can dress it up or down. I'm a big fan of wearing a basic jeans-and-tee combo and throwing on jewelry with a lot of glamour. During the creation process I also pictured a variety of wedding attendants displaying this piece: a sister of the groom, mother of the bride, or bride herself.

I wire wrapped each bead and pearl. These types of elaborate necklaces remind me of the patience that I've gained over the years. Wire wrapping pieces individually seems tedious at times, but I find it meditative to sit in stillness while imagining who might be the owner each necklace. I'd like to say that each piece of jewelry is made with love, but it's really much more then that. A lot of creativity, time, energy, and attention to detail goes into all my jewelry. I want every woman to feel beautiful and I want to make it easy for her to fall in love with jewelry so the moment she puts it on it transforms and elevates the experience of her own beauty. If she cares for herself then of course I care enough to invest my love and time into the jewelry.

Inspiration by a tattoo

One afternoon I was sitting at the beach reading and writing about the direction and goals of my jewelry business. A woman was sitting 10 ft in front of me with her shoulder exposed that revealed a tattoo. I've never had a deep burning desire to get a tattoo myself, but when I saw this sweet and simple pink paisley inked on her shoulder my creative mind went in a hundred directions immediately. I spoke with her for a few minutes and took a snap shot. The following 2 months I bought a handful of unique beads with paisley print and was gifted many paisley items from friends who respected my new love of the design.

Inspiration comes from anywhere and it presents the opportunity to connect with others if you spot something they're sporting that you're drawn to. When I speak with people and tell them I've been inspired by something they're wearing or have on their person I ask to take their picture and post it on my blog as an inspiration piece. This draws traffic that may have never been before, and more often then not they drive more traffic to my site by sharing their unique experience with friends and family.

"Beautiful Mess"

I'm 1/16 Cherokee which I know is not much, but I've always been drawn to the art and history of the Cherokee people. Back in July, I was on the hunt for images of native women to be inspired by and model my company design after. In the process I came across a photo of a beautiful headdress that I'll be recreating for my Halloween costume this year.

I was also inspired to create a modern piece that resembled strength, delicacy, and a warrior like feel. I began with simple chains, silver plated feather charms, and turquoise beads. To keep true to my repurpose-as-much-as-possible roots I've always kept a tiny drawer of scraps that consist of chain, wire, gently used sections of other jewelry pieces, and different metals. Once I created the foundation for the necklace I began adding from with leftover chains.

Overall the piece finally came together and when worn it lays somewhat heavy like a metal bib. The different textures against the collar bones and chest feel incredible and bring an awareness to the body and breathing that normally goes unnoticed. This was my first "wild" piece and one I'll forever be fond of.

The listing can be seen at this link:

Nomadic Fashions Vision & Future

The Course:
As Nomadic Fashions has grown and redefined it’s wandering self, a common thread has emerged that foretells the future navigation of Nomadic Fashion’s jewelry: a blend of cultures, women, and the earth.

Our goal is to have at least one piece that stands out to every woman that has them say “that is absolutely me” and is the same piece they can wear at a business conference or a night out with the girls.

The Nomadic Fashions Woman:
Nomadic’s pieces are designed for the free-spirited traveling, powerful professional woman. In tune with her own beauty and the universe that surrounds her, she shine’s in the limelight and blooms in the background. Nomadic’s woman doesn’t work hard, she lives confidently, passionately, and powerfully. Pursuing what her nourishing and tender heart desires one moment while fiercely navigating life’s adventures. She can be found paddling solo through mountain lake thoroughfares, demanding attention of colleagues, scaling the holds of El Capitan, or negotiating overseas deals. Equally as soft, she finds solace while reading at the shore of her favorite beach, playing with her sister’s children, having a spa day with her bestie, or volunteering in her local community. To sum it up she’s a playful-powerhouse.

Creation:
With each piece all components are handpicked and hand crafted from start to finish. Each piece is a statement, whether big or small, which speaks directly to the essence of each woman.

The world exists as an artist’s pallet to designer and creator of Nomadic Fashions, Sarah Westergren. The pallet of colors she draws from consist of, fashion, weather, travel, moods, culture, and experiences. Originally finding a deep well of inspiration from her friend’s styles, neighboring gardens, San Diego beaches, architecture, and the open road, Sarah has dreamt of empowering woman globally while travelling and experiencing countless cultures and creating designs that speak uniquely to the heritage of each woman’s heart.

About the designer:
The designer herself, in love with life, passionate, and a seer of individual’s styles, is a master of creating pieces on demand, whether it is a unique gift or for a client’s special evening. To best describe the designer she is much like the woman she creates for, a poetic, romantic, powerhouse, and wanderlust, out to conquer life’s adventures.

Sarah’s life purpose, inside and outside of her beloved Nomadic Fashions, is to see others fulfill on their passion. Always one who has believed work doesn’t need to be a job, she communicates that one’s work should be a direct expression of self. She trusts in the power of being authentic, building relationships, and always pursuing a dream.
